The job we are proudest of
Lom — the house with the tower roof
This is the job we are proudest of. A three-storey house in the town of Lom, where we replaced the roof completely. The owner wanted something that exists nowhere else — a steep, multi-pitched structure on three levels that from a distance looks like a church tower. It was built entirely to his own design, from the bare structure up to the last tile. We show it because a roof like this does not come out of a catalogue.
Tiled roofs — from the rafters to the last tile
This is how a tiled roof is actually built, layer by layer. First the new timber structure goes up — the rafters nobody will ever see again. On top of them come the fascia boards and the boarding. Then the breathable membrane that protects the timber, and the counter-battens that leave an air gap under the tiles. The tiles and ridge caps go on last. If any one of these layers were missing, the roof would leak within a few years. That is why we show all of them.
Waterproofing a flat roof
A flat roof is a different job from a tiled one, which is why it sits on its own here. Water has nowhere to run off quickly, so everything depends on how the substrate is prepared and on the detailing at the upstands and around the outlets. In these photos you will see a cleaned substrate, membrane laid over the whole area, and worked corners. The white roofs are PVC membrane — the most modern flat-roof waterproofing, its seams welded together with hot air. The large areas are the easy part — leaks start at the edges.
Metalwork — standing-seam roofing, gutters and flashings
The metalwork is the part of the roof that steers the water — gutters, downpipes, flashings around chimneys, aprons and valleys. We also build complete metal roofs in standing-seam sheet. In most of the cases where we are called out for a leak around a chimney, the tiles are fine — it is the flashing that is letting the water in.
Terraces — waterproofing and porcelain tiles
A terrace almost always leaks because of old waterproofing under the tiles. So it is done in one go: we lift the old surface, correct the falls and the drains, lay new waterproofing and new porcelain tiles over it. We have completed terraces in Sofia and in Borovets.
Asphalt — yards, drives and parking areas
Alongside the roofing we also lay asphalt — apartment-block yards, paths, private drives, parking spaces and car parks, as well as patching potholes. We work with our own machinery. We do not asphalt roofs — this is a separate trade. If other work is happening on the same site, the asphalt goes down last, so heavy machinery never runs over a fresh surface.
